A Day at the Farm

Today we went with a playgroup on a field trip to Petit Jean Mountain.
First thing, we met the cat of the barn....
But the star of the show was the new baby sheep- 1 week old!
The verse they learned was John 10:14, "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me." The baby sheep was such a great illustration.
The kids got to pet it, hold it and feed it- just like God takes good care of us.
We made our own lunch....
The kids had dry ingredients in a ziploc, added the oil and water and kneaded it until it formed a dough.
While we let the dough rise, we watched as they took many strands of twine and the kids turned and turned a crank to make a rope.
Back to cooking.....the dough was ready and the kids got to press it all out in the pan.
They added some pizza sauce and cheese....
And made a really big pizza!!
The kids had a great time making this all by themselves....
The final product.......yummy!
Served with grapes and lemonade-

We enjoyed the pretty weather and had a picnic, but.....This "in-the-ground" trampoline was definitely a highlight of the lunch! On to dessert- the kids made their own...

They each had their own bag with the ingredients. They put it in another bag with ice and rock salt........shook it lots and voila......We had homemade ice cream for dessert!!

It was such a fun day....being at the farm, the animals, the cooking, the rope, the eating, the jumping- all the while learning a few things along the way!
